After years of using consumer VHS VCRs with my old video capture gear I finally purchased a nice JVC BR-S800U Professional SVHS machine. It has the needed Sync input for AVID and other systems (perfectly syncs audio and video to a reference signal generator which I have), just need to find the optional plug in board for RS232 or RS422 so I can control it from the editing software.
