NEW Injection Molded - iMac G3 Inner Bezels

Bumping this up so people can back it. I have two slot loaders so I would be interested if the bezel did break on them, but mine aren't broken

Coming soon (December 1st) a replacement inner bezel for the iMac G3. Even when you find new old stock units they crumble to dust. The Kickstarter goal will be for only half of the tooling costs. This is a must have for any slot load iMac G3 owner! Pricing will be $95-$149 (depending on quantity). Click to be notified by email when it goes live!!

These will not have the same fire retardants that cause them to brittle. It will also be offered in a clear color!

Hi, any sign of getting the 'Clear Apple IIe case AND IIe>IIgs 'Stealth' Conversion Kit' back in stock? I have a new/old stock IIGS ROM3 motherboard and all other new components ready to put into one of your very nice looking clear cases. Thx

This is great. I’ll probably end up ordering at least one at some point, I’ve got two of these slot loader iMacs. My Blueberry’s is ok for now but will likely break when I take it apart for a recap it needs. My graphite one on the other hand already has a huge crack in it.

Do we know why the plastic used for the original inner bezels ages so poorly? Just too thin or a factor of the composition of that plastic?

Far from the only plastic that new to be junk. I’ll admit that it is especially bad though. Could be composition, design, the fact that it’s baking in a fan-less iMac, sun exposure, or a combination of them all.

True. Back when I had a new Dalmatian iMac I remember it got so hot I used to switch it off after about 4/5 hours. Its flyback died when it was 6 years old. RIP. I loved that computer!

I swear they’re just cursed machines. Neither of mine show signs of flyback failure but I’m pretty sure the caps are going out on both, especially my otherwise mint blueberry. The whole screen geometry shifts when changes happen on the screen.
I’ve seen delaying recapping it for so long due to the fear of that darn bezel. Maybe I’ll finally give it a go if I get one of the new ones.

Supposedly it's the fire retardant in the original plastic that leads to it aging poorly and becoming brittle. It's being omitted from the formulation of the new ones.

Yes, that will be back in stock tonight!

I'm beyond thrilled it reached the goal. It is too late to save many older Macs but now the iMac G3 machines can certainly be saved!

The iMac bezel issue is a combination of heat, sunlight, general age, and mostly the chemistry of the plastic (fire retardant).

My DV SE is still in good shape, but I have not yet taken it apart or overhauled it in the nearly 25 years I have owned it. Having one of these will make me confident to do it all in one shot.

My iMac G3 700mhz is in a sad shape with a cracked bezel, grinding hard drive, and popping at the fly back transformer, and in need of capacitor replacements. I've put off doing anything with this until I know I can actually put it back together!

Same boat. I think I’ll also buff its back shell as well, like I did in the G4 video I made sometime back. Hopefully I can get it like new.

Where does one source new fly backs for these, anyhow?
