My very first liberation...

My girlfriend and I just bought a house. Since there was a lot of trash inside and we broke out so stuff. We did several recycle park trips. But everytime I come home with something new for the skip.

First it was a pcmcia to CF adaptor. Then a Wallstreet battery + AC DC. Yesterday I found a sixtees telephone, today : a Macintosch Classic 2. Yay! Ok,so it is not the best mac out there but still nice to own. I always wanted one as a kid I had a regular classic around 1995/6 and these were waaay to slow. I only had a power lead in my new house so I booted it and it works like a charm with it's 80mb hd. I can't inspected the rest because I don't have a keyboard or mouse there.

I think the Classic II is actually the rarest of the compacts I see for sale.

Didn't know these machines were that rare.

I cleaned it up and it looks pretty good. Not to yellowed. I'm suprised how light it is compared to my SE. It is stuffed with documents and games. ANd it was truly a family computer: everybody has it's own map. Last documents date from 1998. It must have been in a loft for quite some time!

@ Trash: Thanks! During the move I noticed that I really have way to much stuff! My friends and family were mocking me especially my stash of stylewriters

Finally played a bit with this classic. The original HD has died The only spare working HD I got was another 80mb proLS . I also the Classic 2 has the dreaded chequered screen . It sometimes boots but often doesn't. Guess it is time for capacitor replacement !

Sounds like you got some cool stuff, including the house!

The phone geek in me has to ask about the 60s phone. What's is say on the bottom and what color is it? If it isn't already modular I can help you connect it. If it's rotary you can answer calls on a VoIP line, but not place them. Most regular landlines work just fine with rotary (pulse) service still.

Battery was removed when I first got it . It seems strange, when the system is warm it seems to boot. When it is cold you get the chequered screen.

TheIanman85 -> All my phones seems to work straight out of the box (or dump . I have a internet connection through the television network and it includes a VoIP telephone line. The only thing that didn't work is you get one of those messages that says press 1 for .....
