My 550 has arrived

Picked up what looked to be a nice Performa 550 off the bay. It arrived today without a single piece of broken plastic, I was quite shocked.

That is awesome! Perfect delivery is a rare thing with these 14" Trinitron beauties. So now you must decide goodies you will stick in there.

I didn't take pictures of the packaging but I was actually surprised it came so well because all they used was a thick cardboard box with sheets of the hard styrofoam filling all the gaps inside the box around machine. And I want to say some shrink wrap or something actually on the machine. It also was shipped standing up in box not facedown.

Thick cardboard (2 layer) boxes keeps the sides from flexing so contents cannot move around. I use foam padding (if available) or Styrofoam blocks to package heavy bulky items and it always works.

So what do you think of the machine itself?

Well overall it's a nice machine will probably end up sitting between the color classic and Mac tv on a shelf without a real use for it lol

They make decent old game machines if you are into that.

I don't really play games or anything, it was just another machine I didn't already own and therefore needed one.

Mine has a Presto Plus installed and it just collects dust. I don't real game on Macs for some reason.

I bought my 550 off eBay and it was packed in a styrofoam cooler sourounded by trash. I was quite pissed off to receive I it like that but to my surprise it arrived in perfect shape.

I am surprised it arrived in good shape... I don't think I've ever had a 500 series desktop machine or MacTV arrive safely... there was always something broken on it.. but I am really glad for you it arrived safely!!! Just be careful with those plastics... and get that logic board recapped!

Beautiful 550. I envy you! It's great to see that it arrived with you in such great shape. Enjoy that machine. The closest I've come is having a 550 board in my Colour Classic!
