modern images in photoshop 1.0

hi all,
i was wondering if there was any way i could take an image taken on a modern digital camera or smartphone and load it into photoshop 1.0 in mini vmac or on a macintosh plus. getting the file onto the computer isn't a problem for me (i have a floppy emu), i'm just not sure how to format the file so it can be opened in such an antiquated version of photoshop, or if it can be opened at all.
thanks!

i'm so sorry i realize i should have put this in the software category feel free to delete this post if you have admin privileges

Tiff should work. Otherwise you need inbetwen version, like 5.5 that can open png and jpg and then save it for ver. 1.0

The program Graphic Converter switches between all sorts of formats. You might be able to use it to convert to Pict or something else supported by early Photoshop.

Second using Graphic Converter for this. It's still made by its original author for modern mac OS and there are versions that work on System 6/7.

I also agree that Graphic Converter is a great solution to this kind of problem. I used it for years, though I wasn't aware it was still in development, so thanks @joshc just grabbed a new copy from https://www.lemkesoft.de/en A bargain for what this software does!

I think you'll need to drastically compress whatever modern images you try loading onto the older computer. I'd imagine Photoshop 1.0 will struggle with anything bigger than maybe a few hundred kilobytes in size. Each photo I take on my phone is about 25MB for comparison. From what I remember, graphic converter can probably handle this job, although it's admittedly been a few years since I have last used it.

If graphic converter won't do what you need I'm sure GIMP will. It's completely free, VERY powerful, and it runs on all modern operating systems. It is what I use to make popper resolution 1bit images to use on my Compact Macs and Powerbooks.
