Mode32 with Radius Color Pivot mouse freezes

Great!

But we can't just swap the chips, you see, the IIsi uses a special chip can't can't be installed on the SE/30 or Nubus card. But the firmware on it is cross compatible, the chips themselves are not.

Since I live in France, I think the best thing is to get a IIsi Pivot from Macmetex in the US (where I got mine), I sent him an email to ask him if he still had v2.6 cards. Awaiting his answer.

Yes I meant if I had to get another card to swap chips from another se30 or nubus card.

Or if the great and powerful TechKnight has the same iisi card that he can rip for us =)

Well yes I can get some chips and send them to you =)

I'll have to open up my mac and look unless you know offhand what kind of rom chips are on these cards and where I can purchase them.

It will have to be specific. I checked online and every Radius Pivot card except the IIsi one has this exact ROM chip. Sounds like we're good to go!

Techknight, tell us when you're ready. And we'll send you some fresh ROMs to play with!

Mouser actually stocks two versions of the same chip. One with a 70ns access time and another with a 45ns access time.

I'm hesitating between those two... My current ROM says 27c256-15FA. Does that mean it's a 15ns?

Nope, that means its 150ns. its an older chip. Whether you can use a faster chip in the card or not is unknown.

Well 120ns and 150ns 27c256 are discontinued. But there are second hand chips available on ebay.

One of these should do the job nicely. This is the exact same chip and the seller claims they're new.

If you agree, I'm buying one of those chips and have it shipped to you directly (PM me)

May be easier to just send you my original rom chip and have you update that , you can save this v1.0 rom on file as well.

but if anything goes wrong I might end up with no rom chip and the card wouldn't work without the rom lol

I guess now's a time to work out a deal maybe we should PM you.

Whats the best way to do this?

I think us sending you some money to buy a few of those chips and program them to send to us might be the best way.

If I bought the chips then Id have to ship to you and back and forth would cost more i think, most sellers only ship to confirmed or paypal confirmed shipping address and have problems changing the shipping address so i don't want to mess with that I never have any luck that way.

Well technically I only Need one chip right, I assume badgoldeagle only needs one as well but I was going to throw down a few extra bucks for a few extra chips maybe for you to have in stock for others that may want to update their cards in the future, if you want to keep them around I assume you're used to providing services like that to people around here =) whatever works.

Yeah I will need one of those too. I did find some old 27c256 15FA chips on ebay that were already erased but they were expensive! $12 per chip!

The problem is that we need a 150ns one, and you can't find them new anymore.

I was thinking about buying these. 3 chips for less than $10 shipped. But I don't know for sure if they will work since they aren't exactly the same (27c256B 15F1)...

10 bucks isn't a huge amount of money. I'm going to buy these and have them shipped to techknight's.

Edit: Chips claimed, on their way.
