Mode32 with Radius Color Pivot mouse freezes

System 7 is fickle. I have a random F-line instruction error that occurs when I try to use PCMCIA peripherals in my blackbird running 7.1.2, and someone running 7.5.5 doesn't have that problem, so its specific to my version of System 7. Sometimes you just have to accept System 7's quirks.
This happens on 7.1, 7.5.3 and 7.5.5, and i can't just Accept my mouse not moving at all lol how Do i use the computer without a mouse? And I can't just accept Programs Won't run in 24bit addressing and not being able to use the 64mb of ram I Bought to put in this thing lol
I'll keep playing with it and see if it also happens back in 6.0.8 or maybe try os 7.6 and see if that works either.

You have a nasty software/firmware bug somewhere. The only way your gonna catch this MAYBE is with macsbug.
Its possible you have "just" the right wrong configuration to cause this issue, this issue may have been documented and fixed in a later card revision, ROM revision/version, or even software. But that info is likely lost to time.
but its just as likely the card is bad, or just as likely one of the PDS lines is broken on the SE/30 logic board going to the slot that the card needs to operate correctly. Possibilities are endless.

I was gonna say ROM since I can't get the Radius v1.0 ROM to work properly with system 7.5... That ROM has a copyright of 1990, and System 7 wasn't out yet at that time. Does that happen under system 6 with 8mb+ RAM? Hope you haven't trashed that partition!
If the v2.4 ROM from the IIsi Color Pivot works for me, I'll be imaging that ROM to distribute it freely. I guess Radius won't complain much as they're not in business anymore.
If a "new" ROM and different software don't fix this then I guess the card is bad or VRAM is corrupted?

I'm thinking it Might be the rom too I also have what says v1.0 on the rom chip, I have seen the same exact card with v2.5 I could see it was just a second sticker over the original lol so i suspect all the cards are the same with updated rom versions. But is the iis card exactly the same as the 030 cards?I guess we will find out lol

The roms are compatible throughout the range.
Nubus II, PDS IIsi ans PDS SE/30. The cards themselves aren't, exept for the two PDS ones which are actually interchangeable.
The only problem is that I've just noticed the EEPROM's different on the IIsi Pivot, so I can't make the switch. There is a Nubus pivot for sale on eBay with version 2.4 ROMs. I've just made the seller an offer. This one is easily switchable.

Honestly I have no idea. That's the first time I encounter any problem with the ROMs. I think the ROM on the Pivot is an EEPROM as in Electronicaly Erasable and Programmable ROM, so I think you can write on top of it. But you and I will need a ROM programmer or someone kind enough to do the burning and ship it to us 
I get a blue-ish kind of tint on the extended desktop and the resolution is all wrong. But it does that with and without the drivers which led me to think ROMs were a possible problem. On mine the code is just not executed properly.

Does this only happen in os 7.5? Or any os?
Have you tried any other monitors besides an lcd with an adapter?
Those ttl switchable adapters can put out weird or distorted signals especially depending on the monitor and the card might be having trouble with the adapter as well.
I have some unknown cable here that is vga on one end and the and what is it db15 on the other end, and works great with my viewsonic lcd and projector too, my tv cant handle that signal i haven't tried anything else but I mainly stick to an old apple 15inch multiscan crt so I know there's no problems.
I didn't need any drivers for it to work nor did the drivers seem to make any difference in functionality. It should all work from the rom.

if the ROM is THAT old, chances are it has a ton of bugs! they dont issue ROM releases unless there are new features which cant be put into software, or there are some nasty bugs, or software/driver patches that eventually got moved into ROM.
I would rip a good copy and reburn the one you have. I have a willem programmer which will burn just about any ROM, but I lost my UV eraser long ago so I gotta get another one, but I havent reburned a ROM in ages so I never replaced it.

Yes I know, I am not an idiot. Plus I was referring to the older ROM which is in a ceramic EPROM package. Also, EEPROM is erasable by UV as well if the die was exposed.

He even uploaded that file but the link went dead.

I found a card with a slightly older ROM, v2.4 from 1992. 'Might' work with 7.1 but 2.6 works with both, so I think this is the version to go for.
In the meantime, I suggest we all get a ROM programmer if you don't already have one (I don't).
