Macintosh SE/30 - Activity LED Amber

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, though I couldn't find a relevant thread.

I have a perfectly working SE/30. However, the activity LED on the front is very very dim. It does flash with activity on the hard drive, but it's so faint that you have to really look.

I was wondering if this was typical of this color of LED or if it's just old and needs replacing. If replacing, where could I source a similar color? I want to keep the SE/30 looking stock, so I want to keep the same color.

Thank you!

If you're using the bluescsi in the se/30, there is a solder pad you can jumper to make the led brighter. I replaced mine with bright clear led, and it looks super bright now! I actually prefer it over the yellow (personal preference, of course).

Or, resistors in parallel will lower the overall resistance for the LED. :)
I use a blue LED soldered to a ZuluSCSI on my SE/30.

While I did save the original amber LED, I replaced mine with a blue one which is connected to my BlueSCSI
I don't know if mine was dim, or if it was just my old diabetic eyes, having problems seeing it. But it did seem
kind of dim to me, and the blue one is much more noticeable. The only real issue I have is that the thing blinks.
continuously with wifi access on the blueSCSC, so it's always blinking on and off, not just with disk access.
I wish there was a way to tell the BlueSCSI to ignore wi-Fi access and not blink the light.
