Macintosh Portable screen cable

Techknight borrowed a non-backlit to backlit adapter to reverse engineer it and hopefully make a new cable as there are no other alternatives.

The backlight won't work on mine because the cable is torn. 

 
Well any ribbon cable will do. Just decouple the ends, insert new cable. One from a floppy drive would work.

 
nope. You need an Ultra-ATA IDE cable. I rebuilt several so far. You can tear/cut that cable to the correct length and number of pairs you need, and then CAREFULLY un-crimp the crimp fittings, position the replacement cable and re-crimp. Done.
