Macintosh IIx and NuBus ethernet card

I'm thinking of replacing the Ethernet card in my IIx with one that either 1) doesn't require drivers or 2) has drivers readily available. I've never gotten my current EtherPort II card to work properly due to driver issues. Is anyone aware if Asante NuBus cards work without too much hassle? I was looking at the MC3NB card, for instance.

Just a brief update to state that I got the Asante NuBus card. It works without any drivers for 7.5.3 and above from the looks of things. Installed 7.1 and the drivers and it works perfectly well. So, I can finally link my IIx to ethernet and AppleTalk.

I discovered that with System 7.1 I need to make sure to do a fresh custom Install with ALL the network options selected (including printers, etc.)  For some reason if I did a basic install, even though it looked like it has the right extensions, my network cards never worked.  I had to do the custom install.  It's weird.

After that, seemed like I could throw any NuBUS ethernet card at it and they'd work without any special drivers or software.

olePigeon, that's interesting to hear. I'm quite pleased to know that under certain conditions, System 7.1 offers such 'out-of-the-box' compatibility. If I ever need to reinstall, I'll try it your way first and see if the network card is automatically recognised. :)
