Macintosh IIcx custom ROM

I don't fully understand why the ROM gets moved from 0000 0000 on first access, and in general why there are duplicate images of it.
The 680x0 vector table, including the startup vector is at 0. 680x0 systems have the problem where you really want RAM there so the OS can change those vectors, but you also need ROM there so the system can power on in the first place. So it's super common for 680x0 systems to have some way to move ROM there at powerup and then have it go away again.
 
that synack.net rom should just work straight up without needing to futz with splitting anything — only matters if you're rolling your own SIMM like a couple people in this thread are doing. IIsi ROM on IIcx has been rock solid for me, so you're good there
