Hi, I'm trying to bring a dead 128k back to life. By swapping out components I've narrowed the problem down to the logic board which is now recapped and waiting for a new Egret chip. Apart from another 128k logic board, does anyone know where I can find one ?
The 128K doesn't have an Egret chip, that came much later. Which chip are you trying to replace and why do you think it's a problem? Is it definitely a 128K board?
The 128k and 512k didn't have any custom chips at all... and I think the Plus didn't either - they were all built from standard off-the-shelf parts. The "special sauce" that made a Mac a Mac was all in the firmware for the PALs and the ROM chips.
They didn't start doing custom ASICs until the Mac SE and Mac II.
