They have a large collection of classic Macs and they do work on them for people, yeah. This might be beyond what they're willing to tackle but we'll see.

I've had luck with some minimal partitions like that one, just not with any full OS installs, including the exact install from the Mac II this was pulled out of before it was sold to me.
That isn't a minimal install. It includes multiple partitions and the full installer for 7.5.3 so you can install everything you need.
I suggest trying it, and doing exactly what it says, step for step.
Might be worth snagging a Zulu just to try, they aren't super expensive, if you do I'd recommend the earlier version, I've had better success with the rev 1 blue boards in 68k machines vs the newer ones which seem to give me fits and throw errors even just with swapping over the sd cards which in theory should be identical. https://store.rabbitholecomputing.com/ZuluSCSI-V1-1-p/zuluscsi-v1.1-rev-2022c.htm
I did a 7.5.3 install on the II a few times yesterday using the full installer, no luck. When I reboot with the new OS it just dies. I can only assume there's something in the System file that it's choking on, that it should not be choking on. I can try this again following your steps, though. Thanks.

Not with a clean install. Did you format the disk first from the II?
The issue feels like either a SCSI2SD setting, or a hardware issue. 7.5.3 works on the Mac II and older machines.
I do remember that some versions of the SCSI2SD played up with certain computers. I forget which, but I know the first of the green ones wouldn't work in an SE. I was lucky that I got a red one at the time. That said, I have a green one of some description that works fine in my IIx and the SCSI on the IIx should be the same as on a II.
Don't actually worry about this too much. I'd overlooked that you had it working before the upgrade.
Do check the voltage though. The addition of the accelerator can cause voltage issues.
Just got this image to boot after zapping the PRAM. I feel extremely silly now for not trying that sooner.

Now, the saga continues. Getting unimplemented trap again when starting a game in Doom 2. Tried again with MacsBug installed and got this output:

Does the above suggest that something could be wrong with the ROM? I'm not sure how to diagnose this.
Type the command 'ip' at the prompt and take a pic of the output - it will include the failing trap

Hmm, running Ultimate Doom (or loading Doom II via the Ultimate Doom application) actually works fine, more or less. (Manages to usually get into the game, at least.) No clue why it's not getting along with the version of Doom II that's on Macintosh Garden.

Still getting some crashes, so I'm still curious what's going on with it.
Is this with 7.1?
Attached is Alessandro Levi Montalcini's Trap Check 1.1.1 report tool. Prior to crashing, run this and post the output file. I'm curious to see if you actually have unimplemented traps or have a memory issue.
