Mac 1mb & SCSI2SD external drive (not booting)

Hello everyone.

I'm trying my hardest to convert my old noisy SCSI external drive into a SCSI2SD.

The SCSI2SD is installed and the MAC can read the contents of the drive. But.. it will not boot from the SCSI2SD

I was able to run a complete installation of OS 6.0.8. I can see the system folder on the drive but it will not boot.

I've experimented with Lido, HD tools, etc.

Nothing helps.

Any ideas?

 
You bless it by making sure both "finder" and "system" are in the folder together, then you open and close the folder in Finder--this should 'bless' it. If it already has a system software icon on the folder, it is already blessed.

Originally my PLUS would boot from this scsi device.

Once the SCSI2SD adapter was installed (in the enclosure) booting ability stopped.

Though I can view it in LIDO and install OS onto it.,  but no booting.

Updated the firmware lastnight.

After update the PLUS will not recognize the drive at all :(

Lido is blind to this drive.  Damn-it.

Guess I will toss this junk back into a drawer.

I may have overlooked some settings in the SCSI2SD utility software.

Wow, well that's certainly not what was expected... Certainly double check the settings and confirm the firmware version before tossing it.  You can always roll back to a previous revision.  You could also send a support request over to Michael.  He's very receptive and once fixed a bug for me in 30 minutes through email.  These boards have been very reliable for a lot of us, and definitely not "junk".  I have them in all my vintage Macs with no issue.

Sorry I should be more clear. "Junk in a drawer" is a joke.

I have many projects and sometimes file them away for a few months.  I own a SE, Classic II, PLUS and 512k

The SCSI2SD will find a spot (eventually) in my setup.

I'm using a red scsi2sd adapter v5. Is Michael the designer?

 
Yeah, the SCSI2SD is not junk, so glad that you will find a spot for it! I would have gotten one myself, but it was either that, or a $15 brand new IBM 68-pin SCSI HDD. For budget reasons, the IBM 7200RPM HDD won.
