So, today makes one full week since I relocated to my new store. I'm now the Apple Solutions Consultant in the Albuquerque Best Buy store. My Apple Shop is right near the front of the store, alongside the line of folks at customer service and the Geek Squad counter. Yesterday, I got to chatting with a woman who was waiting to have her PC notebook serviced, and she mentioned that she'd used a Mac years ago, but had since moved over to Windows. I ended up giving her a full demo, and she left very happy and interested in an iMac for her next computer purchase. While I was demoing the DotMac Photo Galleries, she noticed some pics I'd posted of the SE/30 that I was working on a few weeks ago - "That's it! That's the old Mac I used to have!" was her reaction upon seeing those pics. I laughed and mentioned that I've got a decent collection of vintage computers, and the SE/30 is a recent addition from another customer.
So, I came back from lunch today to find that she had dropped off two old macs for my 'museum' - a 128k (which may have been upgraded to a 512k) and a Classic. Sweeeeet!
The Classic is bare, and pretty beat up, but the 128k is in nice condition (though more worn than the one I have already), and has both the stock keyboard and mouse, all in a tan Apple carrying case (unlike the forest-green one I have with my existing 128k).
Gotta love generous customers!
