Hi,

I've done a quick google search that didnt show up too much, but I was wondering if anyone had ever compiled a list of software that is known to work on a standard 128k Mac.

Cheers,

From the top of my head..

MacPaint earlier than 2.0

MacWrite earlier than 5.0

MacDraw earlier than II

MacProject earlier than II

Word 1.0

Multiplan

Chart

Excel 1.0?

Some early public domain games...most written before 1988 should work (I know Klondike will work on a 128K if you have an early version)

Mac OS earlier than 3.3

MacVegas (good card game set...I have it and know it will work on a 128K)

Sargon (early versions...it's a chess game)

A ton more games I'm not aware of

A bunch of terminal type programs

FileMaker from the pre-Claris days?

Hey Cool,

Thanks for that - I personally think it would be useful to have such a list, I'm thinking about how best to go about starting one. I've posted a message over in the wiki project forum on the topic if anyone is interested in having some discussion around how it might be able to be done in the wiki.

Cheers,

gavo, I looked in the Wiki and didn't see where you posted your message. However, I think it's pretty simple: for each Mac there should be a list of software applicable to it and the appropriate version numbers, probably at the very bottom, with a heading like "Compatible Software". Each software entry will link back to the main software entry for all versions of the particular software. You enter it in this format: [[Microsoft Word|Microsoft Word 1.0-1.1]]

Until someone adds the appropriate entry the software listings will be red, but at least the links will be established.
