LC 575 upgrade to 68040

I have been looking into upgrading my LC 575 logic board to a full 040 processor.  Aside from getting a processor with the same speed rating (33 mhz) and the current 68LC040 chip, anything I need to look out for?  I have heard there are something like 3 different versions, with each successive one running cooler than the predecessor.  Will they all work?

Next question, cooling.  It sounds like I will need a heatsink on this processor.  Does anyone know of a good heatsink to pickup, as well as a thermal paste that also acts as an adhesive to hold it in place (since 575 lb doesn't feature any way to hold it in place on its own)?

This logic board is currently in a Color Classic, however I'm looking to swap it into an LC 520.  Not sure if that affects my cooling situation.

Ebay links or links to our own trading post are welcome for any parts mentioned.

Thanks!

they are just drop in.

I have a 68040 at 25Mhz that came from a quadra, it runs a little bit hotter because its a slower part, but it works perfectly fine.

A heatsink wouldnt hurt, but I dont have one. it gets quite hot, but not too bad.

I have a 33MHz 68040 in my LC575 board that is running in a CC as well.

The Upgrade is just a straight drop in like techknight already stated.

I am running it at 40MHz and never had any heat related problems. I clipped on a small heatsink that came out of the Quadra that was the donor for the 040 as well just to be sure.

Cool, thank you for the replies.

Bolle, what is the exact part number of your 040 processor?  Or do you happen to know which Quadra the 040 and heatsink came from?

Thanks everyone for your input. I placed the orders for the CPU and a heat sink today. The parts should come in next week. I will finally be able to run Space Cadet Pinball on my 68k Mac :) ... And other stuff of course.
