Intel iMac iSight is not connected (Fix)

ok so I bought this Intel Core2Duo iMac from microcetner for 239.00, it was the last one in stock, and it was "open box" it had been bought and then returned several times I could see the yellow stickers built up on the side of the box.

The original selling price for this was 499.00, then it was returned, then bought for 399.00, returned and then sold again for 289.00, returned and sold again for 239.00, and then it was returned again , and then i bought it for 239.00 :) any ways after i got it home i was playing around with it, the only thing i saw was kind of ODD was the iSight(web cam) didn't work, it said "Camera is not connected" i'm not going to lie i had thoughts of even taking it back LOL!

Anyways, i decided this is a great system, its fast, and works good! so i TORE it apart :) haha, i figured maybe there is a bad connection?

nope, all the connections were good, i checked them all.

I carefully put it all back together...

so i started doing some research on this model:

http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-2-duo-1.83-17-inch-specs.html

Anyways this machine was pretty much Educational Only model.

I remember reading somewhere , in some blog many years ago back in 07, 08 that some Computer Teachers were Hacking the Firmware in the iSight to make them not work, because the kiddys are smart these days, just deleting the KEXT would not be good enough, They'd figure that out in a jiffy, so i started to do some google searches and found this cool site, with a guy and his Macbook with pretty much the same issue:

http://www.codium.co.nz/isight_fix/

Anyways, he made a Special kext that fixes the iSight (webcam's) Firmware using a code from a linux driver for the"Cypress Semiconductor" USB video device and wala ! it now works! this might be a good resource if anyone else happens to come across a cheap mac in the wild with a not working iSight :)
