I have about a dozen or so OEM Apple IWII ribbons that I bought from Kijiji years ago for a song. Some are still sealed.
Of course, the foam that rotates the pinch rollers in all of the ribbons have deteriorated and are unusable. I tried repairing one of the unsealed ribbons following the instructions from this Reddit post nevertheless the ribbon still doesn’t advance as it should.
I then checked out this YouTube video and the fellow there uses 6 o-rings on each roller as opposed to 4 in the Reddit post (same size o-ring used). I can’t get 6 to fit on the roller and I noticed that the spindle that connects to the roller is different from mine (I noted this in the comments but haven’t received a response yet).
Thoughts? These are the o-rings I’m using to complete the repair:
