iMac speaker replacement

Hi everyone

I have a slot-loading iMac G3 and an iMac G4 which both suffer from disintegrated speakers. This is especially a shame for the iMac G3, as these had excellent sound quality when new. Are there any recommended replacement parts or repair procedures?

I'm in the same boat and have been meaning to start investigating. There used to be kits to replace the speaker rubber years back. I know someone who just mounted similar sized speakers (years ago).

I'll be interested to see people's recommendations.

I recently replaced the speakers in a Graphite iMac G3 DV SE using speakers I bought from eBay using the following search ‘2pcs 1" inch 4ω 4w full-range speaker on stage crystal bluetooth for harman jbl‘. Worked like a charm.

They'll be quieter. But it shouldn't do any harm.

Thanks! They're 3 watts too I think. Boy I wish I remembered all this from physics in high school. : /. Nothing a little brushing up on couldn't solve I suppose.

Ok I just replaced the speakers with the ones I got from eBay. They are not quite the same, but they fit perfectly and work decently. However, I have the impression that the sound quality is no longer as magnificent as it once was (but maybe I also don‘t remember correctly).

These are tempting. I have at least three or four iMacs (plus a loose set I got about 10 years ago as spares) that could use a speaker refurbishment.

What are the specs for the G4 Cube speakers? Anyone got a link to those? Same problem....
