iMac G3 doesn't recognize its new mSATA

I have a rather problematic 700MHz iMac G3 I've been trying to get set up as a beastly little OS 9 machine...it's got CD drive problems, but I know ways around that.

However, now it's got a new problem. I replaced the whiny old Maxtor HD with a mSATA using a combination of a mSATA to 2.5" IDE adapter and a 2.5 to 3.5 IDE adapter. Only problem is that the system doesn't recognize the hard drive. I tried zapping the PRAM (as that made my mSATA recognized by my Wallstreet PowerBook) but to no avail.

I didn't install a jumper on the 2.5" adapter and the 3.5" adapter doesn't even have a provision for a jumper, so if the drive not being set as Master is the problem I have no idea how to fix it.

Any suggestions?

I had lots of problems trying to get the same combo working, so I gave up and got KingSpec PATA SSDs instead. They have worked fine in Beige G3s, iMacs, and 6x00s.

16 isn't a lot...I'd have to go for at least 32 myself.

I guess this means I have a spare mSATA setup for a laptop, then. I'll put it in my T40.
