IIcx - ROM SIMM for 32bit cleanup?

Couldn't find any info on possibilities on this front by searching here or on the web. Has anyone tried the 32bit clean ROM SIMM approach to breaking the 8MB memory barrier on the IIcx?

I've got an assortment of five sets of ROMs to try in Rev0 and Rev2 dougg3 SIMM cards and the IIfx ROM SIMM as well.

Does anyone know offhand if the IIcx board will autodetect ROM SIMM installation or if a MoBo tweak would be needed as on the IIsi?

Notion to play "sister ship" ROM SIMM games with the IIcx came up during planning the troubleshooting approaches to my SE/30's finicky ROM SIMM behavior.

SE/30 won't boot with IIsi or IIfx ROM SIMMs - Hacks...

Answered part of my question. BMOW's Mac ROM-inator II  is compatible with Macs IIx and IIcx, does anyone know if and what clean ROMs do the trick?

ROM-inator II SIMM order jus placed. [:D] ]'>

Your IIci was the first 32bit clean Macintosh. Apple knew the Mac II ROM was dirtied with 24bit only code, hence the ROM SIMM Connectors. CONNECTIX beat them to the fix and did it in software patented routines in MODE 32, so Apple never shipped the 32bit clean ROMs as planned for II, IIx, IIcx and SE/30. A class action brouhaha over falsely advertising the series a s 32bit machines forced Apple to make the CONNECTIX gang "undisclosed amount" millionaires in order to distribute their 32bit fix for the Macintosh II line freely.

Mac ROM-inATOR II appears most handy implementation of the 32bit ROM SIMM fix for the II series in the form factor Apple never used. WAY TO GO, big tomato! [8D]

Can't wait for mine to arrive! [:D] ]'>

Oh, I misunderstood what you were asking.  I thought you meant a physical limitation like the LC.  I believe a 32-bit clean ROM will make the IIcx work fine with more than 8 MBs and without the need of MODE 32.  Works for the SE/30.

I use the ROM-inator II in my IIcx, thus 80 MB RAM of possible 128 MB, but since the ROM-slot is empty you need to remove a jumper on the logic board.

Is it possible to put the IIcx Roms in a LC in order to have 24bit quickdraw-routines?

The IIcx should have 24Bit Quickdraw-routines, from the IIci and above all macs had 32Bit quickdraw-routines.

Based on the response to the issue with 32-Bit QuickDraw (New Mac Users Encounter a Mysterious Phenomenon, page 29), in Sierra’s Summer 1990 Newsletter Volume 3 Number 2, it appears that Sierra’s AGI games were incompatible with changes made when Apple moved from the 24 bit version of Color Quick used by early Macintosh II systems to the 32 bit version built in to ROM starting in the IIci, and all future color Macintosh systems.
