IIci gives sad chimes with SE/30 ROM, silence with ROMinator and onboard ROM

Actually, I just tried the ROMinator in the good board with some RAM, and I still get nothing. It gets to the question mark floppy icon no problem with the onboard ROM. Maybe the ROMinator is bad?

bigmessowires sent me a second ROMinator containing the stock IIci ROM image (thanks!) to experiment with. On the mostly-working board, it boots just as well as with the onboard ROMs. From talking to bigmessowires a bit, he noted that the way the ROMinator custom image may still be exercising the hardware in ways that the standard ROM doesn't, so there may be lurking problems still on the new board that I have to hunt down. Going back to the battery-damaged board, I get silence booting from the stock IIci ROMinator, even after replacing the original VIA with a fresh W65C22N, so there's still some issue on that board that's causing it to get hung up before it can chime.

I got a IIci board with battery damage, too. Just cleaned it up a lot and replaced some caps and got it to the point where it powers on (no chime). Screen turns on but no disk icon is coming. Maybe the onboard ROM is bad, too. Thinking about getting a ROMinator. Does that make sense? And the oscillator was totally rusted and fell off. Can anyone tell me which one to get? It is the one at Y6. Unfortuantely also a diode fell off (D7). I assume that would be needed if a battery would be installed? My battery holder fell off anyway though :) Would appreciate your help regarding that oscillator.

You'll want to start a thread for your machine so that we don't end up with two machines' defects to follow in one place. That said, Y6 is a 50MHz DIP14 part.
