IIci arrived - questions!

Thanks. I did bend the copper bit the top read head is attached to when I was greasing/degunking the drive, but I carefully pushed it back into place and verified with a floppy that it's making full contact with the disk. It may still be related to a problem with the read head not making contact or not reading properly. I'll try cleaning it.

I've got another drive to disassemble and clean, so we'll see what happens.

Hi,

I have found that there is a little spring which pull the heads together. What happens is it gets stretched out a bit.

The tension can be adjusted to compensate by hooking the spring to a different mounting point (there are several). If you look carefully at the back of the heads, you will see what I mean (the spring is black, so it blends in very well). You might have to pull them apart a little.

I don't think the copper thing is the problem; it's just a hinge as far as I can tell.
