Hyperdrive System Software Disk 2

I can imagine it wouldn't have been much fun to be stuck supporting the HyperDrive once SCSI hard drives were introduced, and even more so once internal SCSI drives became an option.

(I came across one reference to a HyperDrive that was designed to work inside a Macintosh II. Just, why on earth?)

It's hard to be Jossed, in computers as in fanfic!

Well, there's something to be said about having an internal HDD instead of a large external one taking up desk space (or raising your computer 4".)

Sept 85 - original release of the HyperDrive and its system software (V1 Disk 2 seems to belong to this version; Disk 1 sadly is the one that remains obstinately unreadble)
This disk pictured below (that is also bootable with System 4.1 but is a copy)?  I think that was the image I posted in this thread.

Yes, it looks like it. Interesting to see Spooler Install on your disk, elsewhere I've seen that on Disk 2. Is your disk imaged from a commercial/original copy? (It is useful regardless, thank you, but purists want to know!)

ETA: Oops, I just saw the "but is a copy" remark, so maybe that answers my question. It would be great to have any info you have about the disk/image though. Did it come to you as a single image? As Disk 1 of a set? Did you find it somewhere online? Anyway, thanks very much for sharing it!

I do think it should be possible to reconstruct a close-to-original Sept 85 set between your HyperDrive image and my Disk 2 image.

Alternatively, snuci's "HyperDrive" image may be the single original disk from Sept 85, which was replaced at some point between Sept 85 and Mar 86 by the two disks that I have. If so, I don't know whether the two-disk set was associated with the 5.1 update or preceded it. My copy of Disk 1 (the unreadable one) has 5.1 scribbled in pen on the back, which may indicate that it was updated at some point before the disk went to disk heaven, but there are no files associated with the 5.1 update on Disk 2.

Sometimes I wish my brain wouldn't worry about this stuff!

It came with one of my 10MB HyperDrive computers.  This was an interesting one because it came with full Mac 512k manuals including the free Mac magazine coupon (un-used) and the HyperDrive warranty cards.  I don't see the user manual here but I'm fairly certain I have a user manual.  If olePigeon has the manual, won't it tell you about the floppy or floppies?  I'll look for my manual.

Added a pic with the early logo:

Oh, that is good to know, thanks!

I can't speak for him, but I get the impression OlePigeon's manual may have been for V2R1 or later. If you do find the manual, and can either scan it (which would be awesome!), or just consult it to see if it describes which utilities came on which disks, that would be wonderful.

No urgency, obviously. It's just idle curiosity on my part. My (512K) HyperDrive came to me with software on it, but no install disks or manuals.
