How to install OS 7.0.1

Ok, so since I can't seem to get Gamba's instructions to work - I did start off with OS 7.5 installed instead of OS 7.0.1. - I thought I'd start from scratch and install OS 7.0.1.

Ok, so how do I do that? I have the floppies. If I put in the Install Disk 1, the system ends up hanging. If I put in the Disk Tools, everything boots, but then I can't eject the floppy to put in the install Floppy.

Duplicate that Install Disk 1 floppy to rule out a dodgy disk, try another floppy drive?

I would like to second that, I used my ancient 7.0.1 floppies for installing a System for FusionPC on my old Win98 box.

No problem. My System disks are German, so they will be of little use for you, I presume.

The disk was from an image, not the original.

When it boots off of it, it gets to the Desktop but displays a System Bomb icon, but no text anywhere on the screen.

If I put in my 7.5 Install disc everything works fine.

What machine is the host for this?

Disk images came from where? How were they imaged to the floppies?

My SE/30 doesn't like the 7.5 NAD imaged by the $ dd command under OS X.

The images should be available from Apple, as 7.0.1 was the last of the un-bundled/freely distributed OS Revs.

I'd love to find a CD Image for all the Floppies, the Tune-Up and an installer to load them automagically from the CD, along with the Disk Tools Floppy Image on board.

I've downloaded a couple of possible candidates, but haven't tried them as yet.

When I was joined to Apple Developer Connection I purchased the MacOS Anthology: a set of 8 DVDs with all systems 7 to 9 in every language (hmmm, am I violating the non-disclosure agreement with this post?) :-x

But I use no floppies -- my USB & DVD to SCSI converter (aka Lombard PB G3) got the images into a SCSI drive, easily connected to my vintage Macs. That's how I feed them

YAH! I've got a bunch of the Developer CD Series but I never signed a non-disclosure agreement! }

They were gifts from a NYMUG buddy, along with Some SIGGRAPH, WWDC CDs etc. and a friggin' PILE of cool MacGoodies! :approve:

I've got most of the System Seven Development Tools or a goodly set thereof on a three 1992 CDs. I've got all six of thedevelop BOOKMARK CD series from the last half of 1994 and a spotty assemblage of the '95-'97

Developer CD Series.

The two Kensington TrackBalls and the IR Wireless ADB Mouse were my favorites out of the lot. Gotta test and Document that mouse, it's been in a zip-lock bag (sans batteries) since about 1998! :O
