Help: Keyboard Turns Mac Automatically On

Hi. My keyboard turns my LC 575 automatically ON even if I don't press the power button. I've tested it with another keyboard and it works ok. Someone had said that the keyboard may be grounded. How do you fix this kind of keyboard problen? I've opened up this Apple keyboard and have cleaned everything, including its membrane but to no avail. I have no way of replacing it where I live. Any suggestions?

It does sound like a ground on the "power on" pin. Do you have a multimeter/ohmmeter?

Peace,

Drew

Thanks for the reply. I have a tester (I'm only knowledgeable with electronics but it's very limited). What do I have to do to the innards of this keyboard?

The most likely thing is that someone spilled something and now there's gunk effectively shorting across the power key terminals, or that the power key itself is mechanically stuck in the "on" position.

After opening it up, just do a careful visual inspection and clean if necessary. If the other keys are working fine, then it will probably be an easy fix.
