No, they are the Original AppleDesign beige speakers, circa early-mid 90s? Most people mistake them for generic PC speakers, but they are far from it.
I have a pair that I hacked a standard barrel connector in and used a generic 15V 1.5A PSu I had lying around. They are REALLY nice speakers. The speaker assemblies themselves are nice and heavy, they are effectively mini monitor loudspeakers, not the usual generic crappy computer speakers they might appear to be. They are not only really nice but they also have 2 inputs (2x RCA and 3.5mm stereo jack) and a headphone port so you can have amplified boosted audio to your ears as well as your room.
I've used mine numerous times hooked to the RCAs on an Amiga or the headphone port on any number of Macs and PCs. They put a lot of heap HiFi equipment to shame and any PC speakers I've ever had the misfortune to use into the dark totally. I'd use them all the time apart from the fact I have a Technics Amp, Sony MiniDisc Deck and a HUGE pair of Wharfedale Linton speakers on my desk
The AppleDesign Powered Speakers are *great*.
They've got some bad rolloff above about 10k but that's because Macs at the time could only play back 22KHz samples, so anything higher than that coming from a Mac would have just been noise you wanted to filter out anyway.
I used mine at work connected to my OpenBSD machine until I replaced them with a 2.1 kludge of my own devising. Mine also have the power input jack broken, so I just cut the cord off and soldered it down to the pads on the PCB.

I've got the AppleDesign II speakers. And guess what, the audio jack plug was a bit flaky. I refreshed a few solder joints, and the speakers worked really well. Unfortunately, I don't have the desk space to use them full time, which doesn't matter too much because I don't use my contemporary Mac or PC for serious music playing.
But now that I am reminded, I will put them to use again. External speakers for an original Evoke Pure? Bedroom boombox delivering iPod content?

Well... after a long stay at radio shack they couldn't find the right connector for the speakers. I couldn't believe it. I bought the right power supply and a new connector (to solder in) for $35...
I then took it in to work and the power connector on our Sony UMPC (UX-390N) fit the jack perfectly!
Now I'm using that power brick at home - even through it supplies 16v and 2.2 amps...
Would this setup hurt anything? I would much rather find another power brick like this one than mess with radio shack again - and save a few bucks too.
The speakers are quite nice - a subwoofer would really help but they look neat paired with my iMac.

You can get a power supply that has voltage changing.
Yes but the ones that go up to 15V/1A are much more expensive than a single voltage supply.
Radio Shack are useless. It's time for you to find the real electronics shop in your town. Meanwhile, 15V is not an unusual voltage rating for laptop power supplies. I'd suggest that you do an ebay search for 15V, 15-v, 15-volts etc and see what turns up. WIth luck you'll find one for a few bucks.

I doubt that the extra 1V will hurt, and the speakers will only draw as much current as they need. You should be fine until you find another.
