It is not a Mac Edition. I am very, very sorry. I needed a better video card to replace the horrid Intel Extreme Graphics II in my Compaq.

You probably need an AGP 4x or above slot for that card to work.

It just depends on how fussy the card or motherboard is. My 4800 is supposed to need a 4x slot to work, AFAIK, and therefore won't work in my Viglen (British PC mfr) P3/450. It works, but it won't load the drivers under XP, it only uses the built in VgaSave driver (despite the fact that it loads the drivers and works fine under Ubuntu 7.10) However, it will work just perfectly in a Dell Dimension XPS R400 (upgraded to a P3/1 Ghz) which uses the exact same Intel 440BX chipset and has the same 2X AGP slot. Go figure.

The slot is 8x. VGA video has evenly placed stripes of garbage vertically on the Win2k splash screen. Once the splash screen ends, there isn't even video. With DVI video, the screen is 100% garbage, and usually there is just no video. I feel the problem may have been the packing. There was no packaging tape keeping it closed. It was just placed in a Cheez-it box-like (with the little tab that goes into the slot) priority mail box. I feel that it could have possibly fallen out at some point or something and gotten damaged.

I tried the card in my Gateway too, where it had the same problems. Also, I installed the drivers for it seemingly successfully, and that did not help.
