Ok, Another one. I now have two from this era, also my G3 Blue and White that is freezing upon booting. Still haven't had time to fiddle with troubleshooting that one yet. This one came with a beat up keyboard, and a 17 inch Cinema Display with a broken support. Works though!

The machine fires up fine. I am wondering about using this one as parts for my blue and white, just as I like that look or if I will end up with two from the era. Hmm.

That's a G4 Quicksilver, you cannot use that for parts in a G3 B&W, the parts are very incompatible

I just like the look of the Blue and white. But maybe if something is useful. But if they are not interchangeable from Quicksilver to BW, wouldn't think the reverse would work either??

Like I said, I will study some more. I am a lawyer (where I have used Macs to do legal work) and ski instructor (where I have used Macs to make end of year movies for the kids' team I ran for years, mostly on iMacs I owned) and not a very good tech. So I have some learning curve. LOL!

Ok, will do. Will check the G3 also. The batteries in the others I have (SE/30 and G3 Beige 266) have been changed.

Nice find! Would be a shame to break it up. Looks pretty clean.

The 933 MHz QS 2002 is great as it has the big L3 cache but without the extra heat of the dual-processors. So arguably a sweet spot for OS 9!

All of the Li-SOCl2 batteries are. No, you don't need to solder in a CR2032 holder. Use this instead:

It's now made by FDK, but, same chemical compound as a CR2032.

If it says 3.6 volt, it's one of the bad ones. If it says 3 volt, it likely is the safer CR version.

Re: the QS, I'd build that up as your bridge Mac. Keep the G3, fix it, and use it as a vintage Mac.

Ok, great. I saw at least one of the regular apple mod/repair guys on YouTube simply replacing with the same style on newer machines and wondered about that. That company has a convenient location in Boise, where I am half the time, so will pick one up there.
