Free PC #2

I got another generic PC at the local college. Wow, this one is nice: It has a glossy black Antec case and a KT4Ultra board in it, that's about it except for the supposed Athlon 2700 in the socket. I will take my beige box apart and pop it's DVDROM and PSU in my new box and wait until the person who is trading me DDR RAM for an older Dell comes by. \/\/007!

PS: any suggestions on cleaning the smudges/scratches off the case or should I just ignore its imperfections?

EDIT: I hope these are DDR1 RAM Slots :-/

Try the stuff they use to clean the scratches off of CDs. It works wonders on my PSP screen and iPod Nano (1st gen).

I gut every machine I get and wash it with that dish soap that has Oxyclean in it. Takes off the marks and brightens up the case. Most systems I get free are dusty and dirty, most come out looking brand new.

KT4Ultra board
Thats a very nice board you have there, I had one in the Athlon whose processor I fried on a crappy Albatron board. Sold the board about a year later to a mate for AU$50. :)

I ended up using car wax, and it did just fine. I like shiny computers. As soon as I get the RAM I will be off installing PC-BSD. Recent weeks have been awesome conquest-wise.

nice score. do you know what model of Antec case that is. the KT4 Ultra is a very nice mobo.

going from what i seen it has bluetooth onboard, AGP 8x, supports DDR333/400, SATA Raid 0 or 1, 333mhz FSB, Gb lan, 5.1 channel audio. altho VIA isnt my fave of chipsets but this one isnt to bad. this thing still has a life to live

i really like my Antec 300. i was going to buy another model but the 300 was for $50 with free shipping from newegg so i could not pass it up.

the only thing i dont like about this case is it loves dust. cleaning the front filter is almost a weekly job. and the side fan mount port has no filter on it, but i can resolve that.

Well, the guy with RAM (my Dad's friend) came by and it was discovered that it won't power up. :(

he's taking it to his place to try known good PSUs on it. He said if it was fried he would buy the case for $50(USD). I don't know whether I should take the deal or not cause I have a KT3Ultra board that will fit in, really, I just need a half-way decent PC.
