For those with a 9600 and a SATA PCI card

What kind of speeds are you getting when copying files from/to the SATA drive? Even if I copy a file from one location to another on the same SSD drive, I get like 2-3MB/sec. I thought this would be MUCH faster than that. I'm not sure if this is normal and if so, which spec of the 9600 causes it to be this slow.

Also, what kind of file copying speeds are you getting from the SCSI drives? It's slower than an SSD for sure, but not by much.

The issue is not the SSD Drive you have but the interface it is on. That is the biggest limiting factor of the system 95% of the time. Next is the OS, as it has to do the task and then verify it. Though this is done quickly, the slower the CPU of the machine, the slower this operation - it is not instantaneous.

Now, with SATA Card and an SSD, you should see much faster transfers but you still have the slow CPU finishing up the task.

I had a 439mb file which I tried duplicating. It took 52 seconds. I'm using a Samsung 120gb SSD with the Sonnet card. I believe I have a 450mhz G3 card in the 9600.
