Alright, I am having a devil of a time getting windows 2k installed. I have installed it 3 times, only to have the system reboot, and it tell me "a disk read error occured. Press ctrl-alt-del to restart.". I tried reburning the CD, same thing. I have the drive in a notebook adapter in the old Dell Optiplex GXM 5166. I have two theories why it's not working:
-the machine I am installing with has a limit on how big a hard drive can be installed. IIRC, some older systems have a 32gb limit. However, the whole drive shows up in the partition menu, all 38,000+ megabytes.
-I recently discovered this machine has a jumper block, like my B&W, and a setting for 200mhz exists. I changed it, and it works, but the system now reports as a GXM 5200.
I think the second theory is more likely, and am about to underclock it back to stock, see if that does not work.
