Dead MacCon in my SE/30?

Hello all. Long time browser, first time poster

My SE/30 has been packed away for a few years after it finally succumbed to simasi mac. Before dying, it was using an Asante MacCon 10bT card in the PDS slot and connecting to the network. Fast forward to earlier this week when my order arrived from DigiKey and I recapped all 11 capacitors on the board to bring the old man back to life. Everything seems to be working all right. It makes noise again and everything.

The problem is that the network card is no longer being recognized in the PDS slot. Running the Asante troubleshooting app tells me that there is no Asante network adaptor found. The link light on the daughter card seems to work properly. I've checked in TattleTech and it shows the PDS slot as present (I don't know how accurate that is - if there's a better way to tell, let me know). I'm leaning towards the card having gone bad. This would be either from simply sitting for years or because I plugged the ribbon backwards before plugging it in correctly.

Any ideas? If nothing else, would anyone be willing to test my Asante card in their machine?

Check for an onboard fuse.

I also have one with exactly these symptoms, and am very interested in finding a solution. Is there a fuse soldered on the board?

Yes, I know there is a fuse on the daughter card. I glanced at mine and it appears good but I didn't test it. I'll pull out my meter and see later this weekend.

It would be nice if it was the fuse on the daughter card but I have full continuity to both sides when I test it. That fuse if good.

I guess the other question is if anyone in the USA would be willing to have me ship my card to them to test in their machine? I could send return postage along with the card.

I was able to borrow another MacCon IIsi/30 card from a friend and, indeed it appears that my card is fried. Most likely when I plugged the ribbon in the wrong way :disapprove:

Is there any salvaging the card or is it off to eBay to hunt the elusive network card?

No idea if it can be fixed, but if you are going to junk it I would pay a couple bucks to get it shipped here to tinker with it.

I'll keep it around at least until I find a replacement card. Once I do, I'll let you know.
