Control Panel Locking in OS 9.1

So I have a working patched version of After Dark for OS9. Problem is whenever you go into it to make a change or anything you get an error closing it because it magically locks even after you have unlocked it many times.. even on reboots! I would assume this is a bug from the patched version whomever did it.. I don’t do programming so I’d have no idea how to fix it. I’ve played with ResEdit in the past.. and MacTools which I tried to unlock it there on and old machine.. it saves when you open and close it.. it only locks after you have made a change. Trust me I’ve tried the Preferences route and trashed them an many reboots.. I really think it’s a bug.

Yeah would be nice if someone could fix the little bug on it.. It's just a little annoying but it still works great!

im a bit confused, I just downloaded and tried out After Dark for OS9 running on 9.0.4 and I was just able to copy the control Panel and the a'after dark files' folder into control panels, after I did get info and ceclicked the locked Botton and it runs fine for me. just wondering what version of OS9 you are running this on as maybe its not compatable with everyone of the os9-9.2.2 versions?

my thoughts would be to try reinstalling the after dark control panel and possibly running a disk check, being an error=1 im pretty sure if memory serves correct is a bus error

also not sure if it matters but I have a different size for the control panel, mine is 510,653 bytes where as from you screenshot above yours is 512,973 bytes. so it appears you version is 2kb larger in file size, makes my think perhaps there are multiple 'versions' of After Dark for OS9 floating around online? I added the sit file for the version I used as I forget exactly where I downloaded it from. may or may not be helpful fwiw

You know what’s strange is today I was fiddling with it and it’s fine.. 🤔 It’s strange and yes I believe there are different versions floating around. At any rate it seems to be working now. But I have heard this to be an issue in the posts in Mac garden where there is a copy. I have copies of stuff from years ago.. I think I stumbled on this copy somewhere because other copies were not working. I’m glad you posted your working copy here so if anyone else has the same issues they have a good copy from you. Take a look on mac garden.. I feel like I’m going crazy cause now it’s working.. so weird..
