Connectix Speed Doubler and RAM Doubler

MacSE/30

6502
Hi,

I have back up copies of old versions of SD and RD when I try to install them installers insist to be run from master disk. I cannot find my originals. Is there a known workaround for this :?:

MacSE/30

I seem to remember this happening and finding that their protection system is pretty low-tech, it just looks at the name of the disk (which can be a mounted image as they look the same to the system) so you have to give your image on the desktop the same name as the original discs (I expect someone will know what that name is, I haven't got my downloaded image to hand).

The disk name for RAM Doubler is simply "RAM Doubler" . The Speed Doubler one is almost certainly just "Speed Doubler" . Admittedly my RAM Doubler installer is 1.6.2 so it may be older and more basic than yours.

If this doesn't work try duplicating the disks and running the duplicates. Might make a difference.

There's an invisible file required as well. I hacked the installers for the various versions I have so they can run from a hard disk.

No luck here. I tried renaming disk images with different names.

What is this invisible file?

Any help greatly appreciated.

:(

If your copies don't have this invisible file then you're probably better off downloading one of the images off the web, I got my RamDoubler from the HL server and it worked eventually (I can't remember if maybe I wrote it to an actual floppy possibly).
