My color classic won’t boot after recap. I did remove the egret chip and clean it during recap it has cap juice under it. Anything else I need to check. The PSU does power on if I remove the board.

Did it work before recap? Did you do just logic or analog as well? I would check continuity to egret etc. also, really would not hurt to submerge and light scrub in tub of isopropyl. My board a few years back did something similar. Washed it, been fine since. Also after recapping it.

It looks like CPU pin 83 is bent and might be touching pin 82?

Another one to check would be U5 near the sound ports, my understanding is it is involved in startup somehow and might need the same treatment as the egret.

I just did the logic board. I did work before recap. I will recheck continuity in egret chip and slo the U5 chip @Fizzbinn mentioned.

I removed the U5 chip and cleaned it. CPU bent pin also fixed. I can’t find anything on Erget chip. Still no luck.

Clean the whole edge connector both sides with isopropyl too. Did you remove rom chips at all? Maybe check your caps and possibly reflow them. Also check legs to pads on egret and make sure there is a connection. Sometimes it looks like it has connection but doesn’t

Yup did all that. And still no power. All the erget leads have no continuity issue. Checked that too. Is it possible that the erget chip has gone bad?

Well, without another color classic to try the board in, it really could be anything. The color classic is a picky little turd once in awhile.

My color classic ii board wad recapped when i bought it. Later, it didnt work anymore. I looked closely and noticed the person i bought it from didn’t clean board from cap juice, just recapped it. I ended up pulling egret, and sound chip off, cleaning pads and putting back on. No issues since.
Well, egret could be toast if you heated to much taking it off possibly.

Where you located? I am going remove the caps and clean the board again. If that doesn’t work I can send it your way.

In Ontario Canada. Yeah, it’s weird that it worked and now doesn’t. Something has is being overlooked possibly. I am not sure what egrets are compatible with the cc.

Probably related to U7 or U8. Hard to tell from the photos but the trace connecting pin 2 on the egret (that runs under C6) looks broken. Maybe just a shadow or some toasted flux? Sometimes there can be a solder bridge hidden underneath the chip too.

Y1 does not typically go bad, but essential for boot. Maybe it had too much heat? And worth checking continuity from Y1 through to the egret.
