Color Classic woes- recapped but no power

Again, as you probably know, you can go higher with voltage, but also try and get a higher rated temp! I think like all of them are like 105c now a days.

Yup, a step up or two in voltage but no higher. Certainly with temp. I don't plan on keeping this one around, but I'd at least like to do a proper job.

I was hoping for a map of the caps to the rear of the board. I've poked through that thread in the past. I suppose I'll just have to be careful and take it slowly. The board seems fairly robust, anyway.

Yeah, you will just figure out the leads and which is which.  The fun comes with removing that damn glue. On one of my CC AB boards it was rock hard, almost like epoxy. And by my experience of wrestling that mess apart I can say I think the boards are pretty robust.

As my stat prof used to say before exams and homework...

"Enjoy."

You know what? That was kinda fun! Not at all as difficult as I figured it would be. Just took my time and had some TNG on in the background. The glue was a little interesting to pull off, especially from those two caps glued down on their sides. But, as far as I can tell, it's all gone according to plan.

I've taken a high resolution picture of the underside of the board and done my best to quickly paint some red circles on it to mark out the locations. Perhaps I missed a few, but I'll revisit this later and do a proper photoshop job, to make sure I've marked out all 47.

Now, to buy the caps. My local store only stocks iffy brands, so I'll have to go for the member around here that sells the kits, or just do my own collection on Mouser.

Here's to hoping this resolves the issue!

Thanks for your post and photo. Would love to see more photos.  I am trying to re build my CC analog board as well.  Did you read this?

As long as you are doing all this work, why not convert your CC to 640 X 480 ( the safe way).  As you already know, your CC will only do 512 X 384.  I love that look my self.  But many games want to run in 640 X 480.  Many folk do not like 640 X 480 look on a CC..  Personal choice.  But something to think about as long as you are already doing all the work....

I had considered it, but doesn't the mod increase the thermal load on the analog board?

It is an extra selling point, though. I'll probably just do it anyway.
