Color classic screen fritz

I won't be surprised if the solution to this problem is so obvious I should have seen it.

My Color Classic is acting up. Screen will stay dark, or come in and be darkish blue, or be on with no color.

Thumping on the case can fix this. Or not.

I'm guessing a bad sodler joint. But where?

try reflowing every solder joint on the analog board. there are a few ways you can go about this, there are reflowing machines you can buy, you could reflow the components manually yourself, or throw the machine into your oven (I don't recommend this one)

Try bending (to make better contact) the grounding tabs under the logic board. Cleaning them is a good idea also.
I had recapped my cc analog board (lots of caps) and had some colour issues (missing Colors) after and it was those silly grounding tabs.

Once reflowed the analog board, focus on next reflowing the yoke board for colour issues/glitching

Seems to be a grounding problem the more I mess with it. Reflowed all the logic board connectors, the yoke board on the back of the screen, and the grounds on the plug.

Still intermittent screen power. The clips might be the main problem. Should I solder them on the logic board?

Can you elaborate on how you soldered them to the logic board? Did you reflow the solder on the clips or actually solder them to the chassis somehow?

Sure. I just soldered the little spring clips, there are four of them, directly to the logic board. Normally they are held in place with tension only.

It's done the trick and no more screen problems.
