Can't boot Linux from PCI SATA card on Power Mac G4

hello all, i've been trying for about a day now to get arch power installed on my power mac g4 with a pci sata card
i've managed to complete the guide, but when it comes to booting the install, neither the boot picker, os x startup disk picker or open firmware seem to be able to do it (i didn't poke around much in open firmware, however)
does anyone have any suggestions to boot sata drives via open firmware? any help is appreciated, thanks

yes, i'm able to boot tiger from it, but only after setting it in the install dvd as the boot drive
