I'd love to know more about the ADB I/O device (photos? software?), especially since as ADB is a relatively simple protocol (PDF) and there are implementations of it on AVRs and the like... so it should probably be possible to recreate something similar!
Of course doing something with a serial port would be much easier, but that's not the point
