Boxed Mac Classic II

Compgeke

6502
I picked this up for $5, seemed like a good deal since it also has the original keyboard and mouse, no manuals or disks. Doesn't work at the moment, seems to be bad caps damage as it sometimes doesn't give any video output at first then after a restart just gives vertical distorted lines. Removing the SIMMs on the motherboard gives a checkerboard pattern so at least it's doing something.

Just washed the board off and waiting for it to dry now. In a hotel until who knows when so I can't accelerate the drying time as there's no hair drier here.

We'll find out if it works later. At the moment all I have is a sink, rubbing alcohol and a harbor freight screwdriver set to play with so I can't go too in depth with spare ram, soldering, oscilloscope, etc.

It looks just like the inside of every classic I have opened to date.  Clean wash dry, clean wash dry again to make sure then pull caps.  Then do it a third time then put on new caps.

Wow, $5?  Worth it just for the keyboard!

Looks like a simple fix, the analog board being suspect is always my biggest concern.  It seems all good on that front at least.

And don't forget to turf that PRAM battery (BB 1992, lol).

Wow, beautiful find. A someone who is a hardcore Classic II lover, this would be like finding a Picasso at a yard sale!

Great find! What's remarkable to me is the condition of the plastic on the case/keyboard/mouse. The lack of yellowing suggests it may have been in that box for a while, like years.
