Bootable CD Drives?

I'm willing to accept that I'm probably doing something wrong. I just wish I understood what.

Put the apple CD extension in the proper folder to try again. This time, try the stock recovery CD. 

See if that mounts. Thats my last thought.

I just tried it with the apple extension in each of the two locations on the disc, the recovery CD did not mount either way.
