Kinda went nuts on eBay the past couple weeks...

But each book was only about $3 each. Every once in a while I go thru a phase where I'm totally completely obsessed with vintage Mac technical stuff. This is one of those phases.

And inside one of the books, stuck between the pages, was a mint condition Canadian $2 bill...Canada discontinued the 2 dollar bill in 1996!

The is RETROTASTIC! So many great titles in there.

I have been slowly buying reference books (again, I dumped so many in the early 2000s  ) I have noticed some books have risen in price.

As you may have noticed, I also have somewhat of a Novell fetish in addition to classic Macintosh.

Gill!  I'm excited becuase I too love these technical books.  Very hard to find in Australia now.  We should compare titles

PS Incidentally, I'm sure most people know this, but abebooks often has vintage computer books for cheaper prices than ebay. When I see a title I like on ebay, I always check abebooks first.

That $2 bill alone was worth the conquest. You never know what you'll find between the pages of old books.

That $2 bill is from 1986. I'm not familiar with Canadian currency, it is sort of fun to see what currency looks like from other countries.

Yes, but they haven't been produced in twenty years. The Toonie replaced the $2 bill in 1996, and since they have been out of circulation for so long, any surviving bills (especially those in good condition) will only go up in value. We even had a $1000 bill at one point.

Canadian banknotes don't bear the date printed, but the year the design was issued. The 1986 design was the final for the $2 note. People really like to hang onto the two dollar bill it seems- in 2006, the Bank of Canada stated more than a hundred million of the notes remained at large. Almost a million of the withdrawn one thousand dollar bills remain on the books as well as of 2012.

Yeah a lot of the books came from ThriftBooks via eBay.

And I still consider the $2 bill to be the best acquisition of all of them.

I'm sure ThriftBooks sells a lot of good bargain-price books, but WHY are they asking upwards of $100 for the BMUG Shareware 1993 catalog? It usually goes for $25 or less, and someone on abebooks is still selling it for the same amount!
