What Audio File Extension is used for alert sounds and such is MacOS 7.5?

Well, since Mac OS 7.5 doesn't use file extensions, there isn't one on those systems. However, I believe .snd is used for System 7 sound files on OS X and Windows.

There are several utilities that let you do this. One that I've used a lot is filetyper. I no longer remember where I found it, but a little searching in the usual places might turn it up.
