Apple Laserwriter IIg board level repairs

I am in the unique position of having not 1, but 3 dead Laserwriter IIg controller boards.
Anyone do board level repairs?
If you can resurrect just one, you can keep the other two.

Why do these die so much?

What's the symptoms of them when you try and power them up in a LaserWriter II? If it's where the status lights show either green and paper out, or green , paper jam, paper out, then this is likely a capacitor on the IIg board issue.

Like the Mac Classic, these have electrolytic capacitors that leak and go bad. I had three boards (a f and two gs) with this problem, and replacing the caps on them worked a treat.

yes at least one of them has that exact symptom so caps are ordered and on the way!

I have one that is green and paper out
and two that are green, toner out and paper out

Sadly tacking in the new caps did not work.

replacing all the SMT caps has resurrected them.
Now I have 3 working Laserwriter IIg boards

Yes I have to sell the spares to recover all the flipping cash I paid for them and the repairs LOL

Sure, why not. I've been talking myself out of the printer purchase lately, but no harm seeing what you've got

In about a week I will have a spare Laserwriter IIg printer ready for sale.
I have refurbed the entire thing, works great, the only thing you'll need is a toner cart (not shipping those they just make a mess)
