Apple IIgs Chimes Twice When Started

It's not mine; it's one on eBay.  What does that mean if anything?  My memory is it 'chimes' or beeps once and then the cursor (or apple-pong thing) going back and forth makes um... electronic sounds.  I don't know what you call these.  Is that a diagnostic message or is the ROM just broken?

Right (I didn't realize it was considered an error message that's funny/interesting - I only used these when I was really young kid though), so double chime would not be considered ideal?

If you are sitting at you desk with your IIgs and the disk drives are missing; yeah!

But also, there are some DOS/Programs that load up and beep at you during boot or it goes straight to BASIC. Then it's normal.

For the record, it was in reference to this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-IIGS-A2S6000-Computer-Workstation-Console-Only-/131533481363

I offered the seller (after the auction ended) $22 + $18 shipping, which was even a bit more than I wanted to spend [but I have lots of idle disk drives and keyboards/mice etc. and the color composite monitor].  He relisted for $52 and then discounted it to $41; it appears to have just sold for $39.50.  Doesn't have a memory expansion card though.

I think I may basically try to find a salvage one.  I can't remember my IIgs specifically -meaning I may never have used it- and I also know that I will likely rarely if ever use one now.  So I'm trying to mentally scavenge who'd still have these things.  Back in the day (or the day jr. maybe...) 15 years ago, I got all my C64s from the local temple (threw them all out; mistake...) and my Apple II's were from my middle school (possibly the IIc was from a yardsale).  I found that roadside LC (see my Gonzo conquests) with working 12" RGB.

- Basically I'm trying to rack my brain for what I should stake out if I intend to actually pursue this as a hobby.  I also remember being particularly successful at recyclers/dumps (I think that's where I got my PET 2001-16N and failed to convince the nice gentleman to give me the NeXT Cube he kept for himself).  But I'm not really sure how to approach that now.  When I was 14 all that awkwardness fell on my dad.  The local recycling center doesn't even have a phone number separate from Public Works and I don't know how illicit asking them to sell stuff is (if at all).  Anyway; there's no way I can keep making even trivial eBay purchases indefinitely (with the exception being if I actually sell stuff and basically make a separate account solely for buying and selling computers - I'm mulling that option regardless).

Re memory card I just meant that I felt his price was a little inflated compared to the rest I'd found (under Sold Listings) which ranged from like $40-65.  She (beg pardon) determined her price based on a single listing just for an untested mother board.  Obviously in the end my valuation was about $10 too low - I just flatly didn't want to pay shipping (lol).

there are a couple big caps on the mb of the IIgs and they are all leaking by now.   and those can cause the thing to act all strange.
