Weird Stuff is a fun store, they have tons of old and surplus computer equipment. A great place for tinkerers and hobbyists. They had a shelf that was cumulating PC speakers. Every time I went in I would check the speaker shelf, you know, just in case some Apple speakers ended up on there.
Just my luck last week. They had two sets of the taller original Apple Design Speakers, and one set of the platinum Apple Design Speakers II. Unfortunately no power adapters. I went through their miscellaneous power adapter boxes and managed to find one power adapter for the bigger speakers, but that's all I could find. I was able to test the speakers and they work great. So I got the speakers for $2.50 a set and the power adapter for $5, so $12.50 for all three sets. Not too shabby.
One set is deeply yellowed, the other is in good condition, and the ADS IIs are in very good condition.
I just need to track down some AC adapters so I can get the other two sets going.
I'll probably swing by today and spend a few more minutes looking through the adapters. Maybe I'll have some better luck.
