Apple 2e cassette port

Whenever i try to load a cassette it keeps saying errerr

You need to adjust the volume on cassette drive to an optimum level for the Apple to "hear it" start with 60% volume and work your war down to 25%; it is somewhere there.

Yes to Elfen's comment. Too loud or too soft will have problems. You need to experiment to find the right volume level. If you can, then mark it on your player somehow so you don't have to hunt for it again later

Are you using a real cassette deck? If you're using an original 80's one the deck itself might have problems. I've been having the worst time trying to get any of my late 70's vintage Commodore Datasette decks (which are based on a fairly common... Sanyo? audio mechanism) to work reliably even with extensive cleaning and belt replacements. An old, dirty deck in need of TLC could be running the tape at a wrong/inconsistent speed or otherwise distorting the audio.

OR maybe you plugged it the wrong way round? If you're not an experienced ][e user, that can happen.

The 2e's cassette port labelling is a bit misleading.

But beware the Apple //e's questionable iconography - they were still learning to be user-friendly. Note that the in- and out-"ness" of the Apple //e cassette port icons are counter-intuitive. They seem to be reversed from what you might expect, doing a literal transliteration of the picture (i.e. Cassette-out means arrow away from cassette, right? Wrong!). Be sure to follow the example carefully.

The circuit board layout on the //e is identical to the Apple II+ with respect to the cassette ports - so just follow the white wire ("white to the right") and you'll be ok.

Just learned that today (I think I might get a cheap Apple II, so I was investigating how the cassette interface worked)

If it was plugged in the right way then you should follow Elfen's advice: Always turn the volume up! ADTPro recommends 50% or more.

Okay, what exactly are you trying?  

What device are you loading the A2 Game Server on? (mobile phone, tablet, laptop, desktop)

What kind of cable do you have connected, and where to on the A2?

What command are you running on the A2, and when are you running it?

I am using a laptop, A audio jack to audio jack, connected to the right, using the command load

I've had generally good luck with the site on my II+, mostly using either a tablet or a smartphone for the audio source, and cranking up the volume close to the max seems to be the way to go. Have you tried both the "HIFI" and "LOFI" versions? My Plus consistently won't work with the HIFI sources.
