Apple 2e card error

I recapped the Apple 2e card, but I encountered an error code -1 when testing it. I’m not sure if it worked before because the caps were in poor condition, making it difficult to test. I removed the U4B1 chip and cleaned it, but I’m unable to find any other issues. Since another card worked in the same LCII, I’m sure that it’s a card-related problem. When I remove the card, I receive a “card present” error.

Could you please advise me on what I should check to resolve this issue?

Got it. I have cleaned the board with ipa. I was thinking of just desolder the connector and cleaning it. But before I did that I wanted to rule out other issue.

I was not able to remove the connector to clean it. I need de-soldering gun ;). I did clean it thoroughly with IPA. All the pins on the back side are good for continuity. Still same error. Anything else i can try?

Have you tried putting the card that worked back into the LCII to confirm that something on the motherboard side didn't break? Also check the pinouts of each board if you can find them online. Most cards don't use all the pins or use them differently, which could point you to a pin socket on the motherboard side that is broken or clogged (with dust or cap goo or both) that your original card didn't use. I usually try to give my logic boards an overnight bath in IPA to loosen up anything like that, soft toothbrush over the pin sockets of the PDS slot, then another dunk and rinse in IPA before drying overnight.

That is a good point about trying working card again. I will give that a try to rule out LCII issue. I will give the board the IPA bath overnight and see if there some hidden cap goo.
